Initially, let's consider the different options in each of the 'See', 'Speak' and 'Surf' categories. As mentioned in the introductory section to the Sky digital TV, Sky viewers can chose from 6 basic viewing packages, with the further option of adding a number of premium packages. In terms of the basic packages, customers can opt to take any from 1 package to 6 packages, with the monthly subscription fee naturally increasing the more packages taken. Further to this, Sky digital TV customers can opt to include either/ or both Sky Sports and Sky Movies. These are the premium packages and they carry their own fee. Finally, in terms of the 'See' options, customers can choose the level of service. Opting for either the basic Sky box, a Sky + box or a Sky HD box (which includes Sky + features). In total there are 11 'See' variables to choose between.

Moving onto Sky 'Speak', BSkyB's phone service, customers can choose from two call plans withi Sky Speak. Freetime offers free evening and weekend calls in the UK and comes at no additional cost in a Sky multi-service package deal. The second option is Sky Unlimited. This option provides unlimited UK landline calls and free international calls to 10 destinations. This service comes at an additional cost of £5 per month. Customers on Sky Talk ('Speak') must have an active BT landline and therefore the monthly BT landline rental fee is also attributable. [NB.- Sky Talk Freetime daytime calls are charged at 3.25p per minute, calls to mobiles and abroad are charge at a rate of 5% below the BT rate. On the unlimited deal, calls to mobiles are charged at 25% below the BT rate.]

In addition to TV and phone services, Sky customers can also bundle broadband into their Sky package. Sky broadband, or Sky 'Surf' as it is known, comes via three options. These options essentially refer to the broadband download speed and monthly limit the customer chooses. The 'base' Sky Surf deal offers a download speed of up to 2Mb and a monthly limit of 2GB for no additional fee. The 'mid' deal from Sky Surf provides up to 8Mb of download capacity and a monthly limit of 40GB for a monthly subscription fee of £5. Finally, the top Sky Surf broadband deal, the 'max' option, provides up to 16Mb of download capacity and no monthly limit. This option will add £10 per month to the customer's Sky surf package.

So, what about prices. For the ultimate package deal, that is one in which the customer opts for all the TV packages, a Sky HD box, unlimited calls and maximum broadband capacity, the monthly subscription cost would be £57 plus a one-off set up fee of £75. At the other end of the spectrum, the cheapest combination 'See, Speak and Surf' deal would cost just £17. This package would include the most basic TV package deal (1 channel package), a standard Sky box, Freetime Sky Talk and base Sky broadband. A set-up fee of £30 is also associated with this deal. These examples are the two extremes of a completely versatile combination system. With so many options to chose from within each product group, Sky customers can fully customise their deal to ensure that they get the right balance between See, Speak & Surf.
